New Clean Energy Financing Program in Lane County

Commissioners Rob Handy and Pete Sorenson recently led efforts for the County to establish local clean energy and energy-efficiency financing, the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program.
First year PACE goals include:
1. Create 124 jobs for every $10 million invested in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
2. Be tax neutral and pose little or no liability for city, county, or state governments.
3. Help individuals, businesses, and entire communities meet energy efficiency and climate change goals.
4. Require minimal upfront cost to property owners.
5. Decrease utility bills immediately due to energy/water savings.
6. Improve indoor air quality, and building durability.
The PACE Program will enable homeowners, businesses, government and non-profits to install energy-efficient upgrades and solar technology with repayment attached to their property taxes.
The PACE program is modeled on a program begun in Sonoma County, CA.
